Who is the NPA?

Northbridge Progress Association Incorporated (NPA) is a non-profit community organisation that represents the residents of Northbridge, a pleasant harbourside suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Aims & Agenda

The Association’s purpose is to:

“preserve or improve the amenity and environment of Northbridge.”
“pursue matters of business on a non-political basis.”

We try to ensure that the opinions of Northbridge residents are heard by local and state governments and that the 2500 households in Northbridge are informed of developments in the suburb.

Further details are outlined in our Association’s Constitution.

NPA Achievements

The NPA was formed in November 1919

Among the important issues NPA has been involved in are:

urging the RTA to retain the beautiful stone arches when the bridge was rebuilt in 1935;
strenuously rejecting the suggestion that nine-storey flats could be built along Sailors Bay Rd;
opposing the overdevelopment of Northbridge Plaza and building on the council carpark.
Today, the NPA’s activities remain focused on preventing overdevelopment in the suburb and preserving our open space and family-friendly facilities.
