Northbridge Town Centre Masterplan

In the late 1990’s, Willougby Council commissioned an Economic Audit and Development Strategy for each of the Business Precincts in the local government area. The recommendations for the precinct of Northbridge included strategies for Northbridge Plaza on Sailors Bay Road (west) and the local shopping precinct on Sailors Bay (east).

The impetus was the major redevelopment already occurring in and around Northbridge. The population within the greater Sydney basin was expected to grow at exponential rates and a proactive plan was needed for the precinct to avoid ad-hoc development and guide future change.

The Northbridge Town Centre Masterplan has a defined purpose – to document the community vision for the future form and character of Northbridge Town Centre.

A decade or so after its publication, the Northbridge Town Centre Masterplan is being challenged by developers and Government representatives. Pressure is mounting to contest the foresight of those who compiled the plan and set it in action.

Below is a copy of the Masterplan for community appraisal and comment.

As a resident, what is your vision for Northbridge? Do you support the plan as outlined in the Masterplan? What improvements would you offer?
