Willoughby City Councillors voted on Monday November 10 to notify the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) of its intention to apply for an Infrastructure Levy to commence in 2015/16.
Council Officers have prepared a report outlining the community response to the proposed four scenarios that were proposed. A copy of the findings are as follows: http://www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au/DownloadDocument.ashx?DocumentID=10574
In summary, those community members who responded voted as follows:
- 56% voted for Scenario 1
- 6% voted for Scenario 2
- 33% voted for Scenario 3
- 5% voted for Scenario 4
The vote by Councillors was evenly divided which resulted in the Mayor using her casting vote in favour of Scenario 3.
Council will apply to IPART in February 2015 for an Infrastructure Levy (Special Rate Variation) as outlined in their proposed Scenario 3. Assuming a rate peg of 2.6% over the 7 year period, our rates will now increase by a cumulative 27.37% over the next 7 years.
